Information Assurance

Course Description

There is an increasing need for governments, enterprises, educational institutions and individuals to employ enhanced security measures and security devices to protect their enterprise networks, computing environments’, and information assets.

This course is structured as a series of lectures, discussions, and practicum that provides fundamental concepts and principles of information assurance, overview of current information security topics, layered approach to information security, computer attack taxonomies, Vulnerability assessment and risk management, perimeter security (firewalls and intrusion detection and prevention systems, IPSec and honey nets), network peripheral security issues (routers, switches, gateways, etc.), and digital forensics.

Course Goals

To give a general introduction to information security, with emphasis on selected information security problems that are both important and challenging and whose solutions may require the use of information systems, information technology and information management
